HCG Diet Overview

Summer will be here before we know it and with that comes the pressures of looking good in your bikini. While a “quick fix” is not always the answer, HCG is an option for accelerated weight loss. But, what is HCG exactly?

HCG (or Human Chorionic Gonadotropin), a naturally occurring hormone is believed that when introduced into the bloodstream, can in fact have a positive effect on low calorie dieting.  By suppressing the patient’s diet, the body is slowly trained over time while taking HCG to require less calories in the future even after HCG treatment.

Treatment Overview:

HCG is a weight loss program that works based on two aspects: HCG supplementation and calorie restriction. While undergoing HCG treatment calorie intake will be reduced to anywhere between 500 and 800 calories. The extreme deficit can lead to nutrient deficiencies therefore should be done under regular consultation of a health care provider.

Like any extreme form of dieting, risk factors are regular and should be noted by your primary care physician. For men, breast tenderness, blood clotting and breast enlargement are primary risk factors, while women may experience irregular periods due to irregular hormone levels, blood clotting and ovarian cysts.
