Maintaining motivation can be the hardest part of a wellness regimen. Staying productive and maintaining motivation can be tough this time of year, but these 5 easy tips will help you stay on top of your tasks and maximize your productivity, which will leave you with plenty of pool time to relax.
- Eat Breakfast, Get Some Exercise, and Drink Water
Breakfast truly is the most important meal of the day. No matter how busy you are, make time for a little breakfast, even if it’s a bowl of instant oatmeal or a smoothie (check out our post for the perfect green smoothie that you can make the night before). Breakfast is the best way to fuel your day. If you can, make time to work out for at least 20 minutes in the morning too. It’s hard to wake up early to exercise, but it will kick-start your day and give you the extra energy you need to complete all your daily tasks. Staying hydrated is a great way to stay productive too. Hydrated bodies have more energy, and drinking cold water can help wake you up!
- Make a List and Complete the Hardest Task First
Making a list is one of the best ways to keep motivated. Writing down every task and crossing them off as you go makes you realize how much you’re accomplishing. Even small tasks should be written down. Also, do your most dreaded task first. You’ll likely have more motivation at the beginning of the day, so it’s best to do the hardest thing on your list first while your mind is fresh and ready to go. Getting a head start and making your list the night before can help too! If you wake up knowing exactly what needs to happen the following day, you’ll be ready to get started right away.
- Batch Tasks
Batching similar tasks is a great way to save time. If you can complete similar tasks at the same time, like returning phone calls or answering emails, it’ll save time by completing them all at once. Set specific times throughout the day to do these things instead of interrupting your other tasks to do them as they come.
- Take Breaks
Working throughout the day without breaks kills productivity. Taking ten minutes a couple times a day to stand up, take a walk, or stretch will refresh your mind and give your brain a break.
- Don’t be Afraid to Say No or Delegate
There are only so many things you can do. If you know your list is full, don’t be afraid to say no or delegate tasks. A calendar cluttered with too many tasks, it’ll make you feel stressed and overwhelmed. Take a look at your list and see if any of your meetings can be crossed off or any smaller tasks can be delegated. Keep your priorities straight and your mind fresh.
